1. Evergreen Orders Eight 11,000 TEU Containerships. Evergreen Marine Corp. (EMC) entered into an agreement with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) yesterday to order eight 11,000 TEU containerships. The newbuildings are planned to be delivered from the first quarter of 2020 through the second quarter of 2021.

2. Hainan MSA Enhances Inspection on Ship Pollution Control in Hainan Province,including the coastal ports of Yangpu, Haikou, Sanya and Basuo as well as the Qiongzhou strait. The scheme is effective from Nov 3, 2017 to Dec 3, 2018.
 
3. China becomes world's largest oil importer. China surpassed the U.S., the former No.1 crude importer, in annual gross crude oil imports in 2017, importing 8.4 million barrels per day (bpd) compared with 7.9 million bpd for the U.S., according to a report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) published on Monday.
 
4. An ocean research center will be built in East China's Shandong province.The Center for Ocean Mega-Science will be located in a science and education park in Qingdao, a coastal city in the province.
 
5. According to statistics from the Qingdao Municipal Commerce Bureau, the total value of Qingdao's imports and exports reached 503.35 billion yuan ($79.67 billion) in 2017, a 15.7 percent increase from the previous year.
 
6. Sinopec’s new Tianjin liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in the north of China received its first-ever cargo of the fuel from Australia.The cargo arrived on Tuesday from the Australia Pacific LNG project aboard the CESI Beihai tanker, Sinopec said in a statement.
