CHEC will build a new shipyard in Nigeria xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2020-08-24 16:53

China Harbour Engineering Company will be responsible for the construction of a new planned shipyard in Nigeria to provide services for the maintenance and repair of an increasing number of cargo, oil and LNG ships.

This project is funded by NCDMB and is expected to be substantially completed in four months.

The large number of ships entering and leaving Nigeria provides a huge business opportunity through the provision of dry dock repair services.

Nigerian government believes that the project will create employment opportunities for Nigeria, further develop and utilize Nigeria's position in the oil and gas value chain, as well as its links with other economic sectors.

Most of the ships engaged in oil and gas business need to go to Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon and other countries for dry dock work, because the local dry dock in Nigeria is too old to provide the required services.
