1. OOCL announced that the sixth and last in the latest series of 21,413 TEU containerships was christened at a ceremony held at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard on Geoje island on Jan 17.
 
2. On January 17, Dalian COSCO Shipyard successfully named the 113,000-ton oil tanker No. 1 N720 and No. 2 N721 built for the Greek company CHANDRIS.
 
3. Yangtze River suffers dry season for 7 months from Oct. to April next year, reducing water depths varyingly at middle and upper reaches.
 
4. Last week, Evergreen Marine announced its fleet expansion plan for ordering twenty 11,000 containerships, containing 8 new buildings and 12 vessels on charter.
 
5. Evergreen has chartered twelve 11,000 TEU container ships from Shoei Kisen and Shoei Kisen will order 12 vessels at Imabari Shipbuilding then cahrter them to Evergreen after delivery.
 
6. China's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has set up a ship leasing and chartering company for consolidation opportunities.
