North P&I to offer blue-water H&M cover hongkongmaritimehub 2020-05-07 10:46

UK-based P&I Club, North, is to offer Hull and Machinery cover for ocean-going vessels following the success of its Sunderland Marine cover for fishing vessels and other small craft.

In support of the new product the Club has picked up underwriting talent from Lloyd’s, namely James Sutton (class underwriter) and Alex Fuller (senior underwriting executive). Both will be based in the Club’s London office.

Thya Kathiravel, North’s chief underwriting officer, said, Diversification is a significant feature of North’s overall strategic direction. We are introducing a high-quality H&M product and service proposition developed in consultation with Mr Sutton and Mr Fuller. We are confident that this new venture will bring sizeable financial benefits for our mutual membership.”

James Sutton added: North is a class-leading marine insurer with an enviable global network and unique culture. We are delighted to be joining North and look forward to strengthening its position in the market with an enhanced product offering. We share a vision for North Hull that is both sustainable and has client service at its core.

In this latest move North joins P&I Clubs, Swedish Club and Gard in offering H&M cover to its members and non-members.

Sunderland Marine was absorbed by North in 2014.

North has a large team based in Hong Kong.
