Taiwan's regional carrier Wan Hai Lines is to purchase a pair of container carriers from Singapore's Pacific International Lines (PIL).

In an announcement to the Taipei Exchange, Wan Hai said it will acquire the Wan Hai 805 and the Kota Panjang, both 11,923 TEU in capacity and built in 2015, at a total price of $186.8 million.

The latest purchase follows Wan Hai decision last month not to exercise options for four feeder vessels at China's Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard/China Shipbuilding Trading Company, reports Seatrade Maritime News, Colchester, UK.

The option was attached to Wan Hai's firm order for twelve 2,038 TEU boxships at the Chinese yard.
