Floating dry dock with 6,000-ton capacity to undertake large ship-repair missions xinde marine news 2020-01-06 14:10

A floating dry dock with a capacity of over 6,000 tons was officially launched and entered operation in southwest China on Friday, with the facility being the largest of its kind on the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

The 143-meter-long dry dock, which has a width of 34 meters and a height of 17 meters, was established by a Chinese shipyard Heniu Shipping Limited Company in Yunyang County of Chongqing Municipality.

As the core ship-repair equipment on the upper and middle reaches of China's "mother river," the floating dock is expected to undertake maintenance missions for large ships which weigh over 6,000 tons.

The dock is capable of loading large-scale deluxe tourist ships passing through the Yangtze River and will help save a great amount of time and cost for shipping enterprises.
