Spot rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday edged down by just 0.8 per cent to US$702 per TEU.
Asia-Mediterranean rates fell by 2.4pc at $689 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Rates from Shanghai-US west coast slumped a further 9pc to $1,229 per FEU while China-US east coast fell 5.9 per cent to $2,256 per FEU.
