Spot rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday fell a further 2.3 per cent to US$793 per TEU, while the Shanghai-Mediterranean rates dipped 4.7 per cent to $969 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
The SCFI recorded another fall of 6 per cent on the Shanghai-US west coast leg to $1,286 per FEU while China-US east coast rates sank 4.2 per cent to $2,436 per FEU.
