No turn around in sight at Port of Hong Kong xinde marine news 2019-08-22 16:53


January 2018, was the last time that the Port of Hong Kong recorded an uptick in monthly throughput. Sadly July 2019 was no exception, with a 9% decline in boxes handled compared a to a year before. The total number of containers handled last month was 1.516m teu.

Drilling down, the terminals at Kwai Tsing handled 1.181m teu, down 8.6% from the July 2018 figure of 1.292m teu. Meanwhile the midstream operators handled 335,000 teu, a fall of 10.5%, from the previous July figure of 374,000 teu.

The cumulative seven month figure 10.578m teu, down 8.3%.
