On 19 July, Mr Xie Chunlin, Chairman of CMES, arrived in Beijing to visit Mr Xu Pengzhan, Party Committee Secretary of China Telecom Telecommunications & Information Center (CTTIC). They had a friendly conversation on business cooperation. Mr Ding Lei, Vice President of CMES and General Manager of Hong Kong Ming Wah, Mr Ding Jun, Chief Digital Officer of CMES, and other relevant parties from CTTIC attended the event.

Mr Xie expressed his gratitude to CTTIC for its long-term support and friendly cooperation. He stated that CMES is currently promoting development on smart shipbuilding and smart shipping, and the NEW JOURNEY that has been delivered is the world’s first smart VLCC. It is hoped that through involvement in smart shipping, new technology would be used to further promote the digitalization and smart development of ships. At the same time, enormous support would be given to promote the trial and application of the Beidou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) in the global shipping demonstration project.

Mr Xu made an introduction on the development of CTTIC, which would center on ship-shore integration to further explore the visual management functions of vessels. Through continuous improvement on ship digitalization and combination with the BDS, it would provide CMES with their global communication and navigation services. Mr Xu indicated as well that CTTIC would offer comprehensive services for the development of CMES’ shipping business.

During his stay in Beijing, Mr Xie also led a delegation to visit the senior officers from the Water Transport Bureau and the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport to report on the related work.
