On 16 May, 2019, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) and Rongsheng Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (Rongsheng Petrochemical) held a signing ceremony for the strategic cooperation agreement in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Mr Wang Hong, Executive Vice President of China Merchants Group, and Mr Li Shuirong, Chairman of Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group (Rongsheng Group) attended the ceremony to attest the signature of the two parties. Mr Xie Chunlin, Chairman of CMES, and Mr Xiang Hao, General Manager of Rongsheng Petrochemical, acted as representatives to sign the agreement. Mr Wang Yongxin, President of CMES, and Mr Yu Chuankun, Vice President of Rongsheng Group, were also present in the signing ceremony.
In his speech, Mr Wang Hong expressed high regard for the long-term development and outstanding achievements of Rongsheng Group in the past 30 years. He gave a presentation on the heritage and business development of the China Merchants Group in the past century, as the Group has inherited the spirit of promoting progress with commercial success. He also introduced the business characteristics and development of the shipping sector, and expressed his hope for more extensive cooperation in the transportation of crude oil and refined oil, chemical transportation, container logistics and so on. By leveraging the integrated advantages through the synergy of the business sector of China Merchants, the Group can provide a full range of quality services for Rongsheng.
Mr Li extended warm welcome to Mr Wang Hong and his fellows, and presented the past development and recent updates of Rongsheng Group and Rongsheng Petrochemical. As he elaborated on the recently initiated 40 million tons/year Zhoushan Green Petrochemical Base Project, he expressed his hope to cooperate with China Merchants to diversify cooperation in shipping, logistics, finance, etc. for joint development.
Before attending the ceremony, Mr Wang Hong and his fellows were accompanied by relevant directors of Rongsheng Group for a visit in the Rongsheng Exhibition Hall.
Relevant personnel from CMES, Associated Maritime Company (Hong Kong) Ltd., China Merchants Nanjing Tanker, Sinotrans Container Lines, Sinotrans Eastern Company, Sinotrans Logistics, Nanjing Tanker, China Merchants Bank, Rongsheng Logistics attended the event.
