CIMC Raffles and Aker Set Sail to Full-Round Cooperation xinde marine news 2019-03-12 17:06


A strategic cooperation agreement has been signed on 4th March between CIMC Group and Aker Group, Norway's largest industrial investment company. CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “CIMC Raffles”) and Aker Group signed a cooperation agreement on several business projects, and the two sides will conduct comprehensive cooperation in offshore oil and gas, marine fishery, modular products and other fields, including but not limited to, GM4-D series drilling platform, designed and built by CIMC Raffles, will be the preferred option in Aker BP’s upstream development, CIMC Raffles will be the preferred maker for Aker Energy’s related EPC projects, Aker Solutions, Kvaemer and CIMC Raffles will jointly provide the full industrial chain services for clients of production platform, Aker BioMarine and CIMC Raffles will jointly develop the fishery resources, and the cooperation between CIMC Raffles’ Drilling Simulator Lab and MHWirth will be strengthened.
 
The collaboration between CIMC Raffles and Aker Group can be traced back to 2006, since then the design and fabrication capacity with contribution from advanced drilling package solution from MHwirth, a subsidiary of Aker Group, were equipped on 9 drilling platforms successively. The two sides also jointly established the first MHWirth Drilling Simulator Lab in China through cooperation of equipment, research and development, and talent training, make joint remarkable achievement is international oil and gas market. In addition, CIMC Raffles and Aker BioMarine, another subsidiary of Aker Group, have also signed an EPC contract for the 1+1 Antarctic krill supporting transport vessel, expanding the cooperation from oil and gas to fishery. “Based on the mutual interest established by the long-term cooperation and the huge business synergy in many fields, CIMC Raffles and Aker Group signed an agreement under the framework of inter-group strategic cooperation.” Said Mr. Wang Jianzhong, CEO and President of CIMC Raffles.
 
Kristian Røkke, Chief Investment Officer of Aker Group, plenipotentiary of the Aker Group Board, said that Aker Group is the largest independent oil developer in Europe and is now investing in offshore oil and gas in West Africa. Aker sees great potential in the comprehensive cooperation between CIMC Raffles, Aker BP, Aker Energy, Aker Solutions, and MHWirth in areas such as FPSO, drilling platforms and overseas upstream development under the framework of the cooperation agreement.
