The container throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in east China's Zhejiang Province exceeded 31.08 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) by Sunday morning, reaching last year's total volume 34 days ahead of schedule.
By the end of October this year, the port as one of China's busiest saw the number of its container routes staying over 300, and the number of sea-rail combined freight trains increasing to 22, with the business volume of such intermodal transport growing by a quarter year on year.
The port has taken a series of measures including opening new routes and increasing shipping space to meet the needs of foreign trade enterprises.
The port is also pushing for the development of automated container terminal and digital transformation, as well as the improvement on multimodal transport and e-commerce logistics services.
