Crankshaft for 22,000TEU container ship rolls off in Dalian xinde marine news 2018-12-17 13:33

The world's largest crankshaft for 22,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) container ship rolled off the production line in Dalian City, northeast China's Liaoning Province on Thursday.

The crankshaft was produced by Dalian Huarui Heavy Industry Group CO., Ltd.

The 22,000 TEU container ship is the world's largest and new container ship mode manufactured in China.

As the core component of the ship's engine, the crankshaft used a docking structure with a total length of 23.519 meters and a weight of 488 tons.

The engine is key to the manufacture of large ships, accounting for at least 10 percent of the total shipbuilding costs.

The newly produced crankshaft has broken the monopoly of large crankshafts by foreign manufacturers.

"The launch of the crankshaft has helped the domestic shipbuilding sector out of the predicament of relying on imported engines and crankshafts. It is of great significance for protecting China's economic security, improving the capability of shipbuilding industry, promoting the level of equipment manufacturing, and realizing the domestic production of major equipment," said Cong Hong, chairman of the Dalian Huarui Heavy Industry Group CO., Ltd.
