Three Ships, One Historic Ceremony – Hengli Heavy Industry & Greek Shipowner LM Celebrate Triple Naming! xinde marine news Chen Yang 2025-05-08 15:17

On May 7, Hengli Heavy Industry marked a major milestone by hosting a naming ceremony for three newly built 82,000 DWT bulk carriers on the same day — a first in its history.

Commissioned by Greece-based Alimia Group’s LM Company, the vessels — ITHAKI I, ELATOS, and PUNTA DEL CHILENO — represent a deepening partnership between one of China’s fastest-growing shipyards and one of Europe’s most respected shipowners.

Notably, ITHAKI I, the lead vessel in the series, was delivered 24 days ahead of schedule, showcasing the powerful synergy between “LM efficiency” and “Hengli speed.”

In the words of Mr. Athanasios C. Laskaridis, Chairman of Alimia Group and Founder of LM Company:
“In my 50 years in shipping, it’s the first time I’ve witnessed a triple naming ceremony — a truly extraordinary moment.”

With strong attendance from the Greek shipowner’s family, classification societies, financial partners, and Hengli leadership, the event highlights China’s growing influence in high-quality shipbuilding for global clients.
