China's first self-developed submarine pipeline survey vessel was officially delivered on Wednesday in south China's Guangdong Province.

The vessel, code-named "Offshore Oil 791" is 65.2 meters long, with the maximum load of 1,200 tonnes and a cruising range of 5,800 nautical miles.

Built in Wenchong Shipyard in the city of Guangzhou, the vessel is regarded as the top doctor for submarine pipelines. It will be used to conduct regular survey to submarine oil and gas pipelines, as well as cables under the sea, and deal with emergencies. It was delivered to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China.

"It is equipped with magnetometer winch and underwater robot. It can examine equipment via multi-beam and single beam just like how CT scanner works in hospital. It has strong operability, mobility and cruising range. It is able to operate on China's offshore waters," said Shan Xueyong, vice general manager of CNOOC Energy Technology and Services Limited.

The vessel will soon head to the Bohai Sea area for operation.
