Shandong Port Group (SPG) launched the first 700TEU container ship at the Rizhao base of Shandong Port Equipment Group on June 9.

The ship is 118 meters long, with a beam of 20.8 meters, a depth of 11.2 meters, a designed draft of 7.2 meters, and a container loading capacity of 712 TEUs. It can function as both a multi-purpose and a general dry cargo ship and carry a variety of goods, including standard containers, refrigerated containers, packaged goods, and oversized cargo. It is capable of sailing in domestic coastal waters and has significant advantages in terms of green energy, high intelligence, and energy efficiency.

The successful launch of this ship promotes the integration between SPG and Rizhao city, cultivates a modern industrial system of high-end equipment manufacturing, and achieves the latest results in coordinated and high-quality development.

As SPG's first commercial vessel, this ship presented significant construction and technological sophistication challenges. The Rizhao-based equipment group overcame several obstacles to deliver a better product, including design limitations and delayed equipment delivery. Nonetheless, they successfully laid a solid foundation for constructing the ship's 60 sections and completing the platform assembly and installation of necessary equipment. The ship's bow features an innovative S-BOW patent design and an advanced information platform.

After the completion of this ship, it is destined to be in operation under the "SPG Express" brand, which is scheduled to provide a solid foundation for the network layout of the shipping group and have a positive significance for the development of container integration.
