Port of Hong Kong witnessed further throughput decline in July Hong Kong Maritime Hub 2022-08-17 08:47

In July box throughput at the Port of Hong Kong fell 7.9% to 1.455m teu compared to 1.581m teu in July 2021.

Drilling down into the figures, midstream operators continued their show of positive numbers for the sixth month in a row: this time handling 315,000 teu or 8.8% more than in the same month last year. However, the efforts of the midstream operators were not positive enough to negate an 11.7% decline at the Kwai Tsing Terminals, which handled 1.14m teu in July.

The cumulative total of boxes handled at the Port of Hong Kong for the first seven months of the year stands at 9.84m teu, down 4.3% compared to the same period in 2021.
