Chinese port container volumes up in early July Ships & Ports 2022-08-02 10:02


Container volume at eight major Chinese ports increased 5.9% year-on-year in early July.
 
Export container volume increased 7.6% while the domestic volume growth rate remained the same level of last year’s. The port of Shanghai was recovering from the last wave of covid-19 outbreak and achieved container growth of 4.5% year-on-year.
 
Cargo throughput at major coastal hub ports increased 2.6% while international trade cargo throughput increased 1.1%.
 
Crude oil shipments at major coastal ports further declined and dropped 13 % year-on-year in early July.
 
Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports grew 16.4% while the port inventory increased 9.93%.
 
In early July, cargo throughput and container volume at three major Yangtze River ports, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing, increased 1.3% and 6.5%, respectively.
