MSI Ship Market Outlook China 2022 信德海事网 2022-07-06 17:08

The shipping industry is going through a period of uncertainty driven by high commodity prices, slow economic growth, political risks and changing bilateral trade flows brought about by the Russian- Ukrainian war. In addition, the fallout from COVID-19 has not disappeared with many shipping sectors still operating inefficiently as supply chains fail to recalibrate. These factors, plus others, are having a massive impact on maritime transportation, which accounts for more than 80% of the world's total trade.

At the same time, the requirements for ships to reduce their emissions are also increasing with the new EEXI and CII regulations imposing stricter restrictions on existing vessels from next year with many owners now looking towards low or zero emission fuel alternatives, for their next newbuilding order.

China, however, remains the dominant global player, in terms of both dry bulk and crude imports, as well as the largest exporter of containerised goods. China is also now the world's largest shipbuilder whilst also holding an increasingly important role in ship finance.

For nearly 40 years MSI has provided independent, model based, market forecasts and advisory services for its diverse client base which includes governments, financial institutions, shipowners, shipyards, brokers, investors, insurance companies, classification societies, regulators, accounting firms, etc.

For MSI's inaugural online seminar with Xinde Marine Wang Jianjun, Regional Director, Asia, together with MSI Directors Mr. Will Fray, (dry bulk carriers), Mr. Tim Smith, (oil tankers), and Mr. Daniel Richards, (containerships), will present MSI's latest sector market outlooks.

After the seminar each attendee to the event will be gifted two free credits to FMV, MSI's online ship forecasting tool, which provides users with access to ship specific earnings, values and operating cost forecasts (the value of the gift is equivalent to over US$500). We look forward to your participation.
