January was a busy month for Golden Ocean Group Ltd (GOGL), part of Fredriksen Group, as three Capesize newbuildings have joined the company’s fleet.

Namely, Chinese builder New Times Shipbuilding delivered three 180,000 dwt bulkers to the company this month.

The delivery string started off with M.V. Golden Cirrus on January 9, followed by the handing over of M.V. Golden Cumulus on January 16, and finally M.V. Golden Calvus on January 22.

Two more bulkers remain to be delivered this year from New Times Shipbuilding, those being Golden Arcus and Golden Incus.

Golden Ocean operates a fleet of 73 vessels and has five Capesize newbuilding contracts. Upon delivery, the company’s fleet will have an aggregate carrying capacity of approximately 10.7 million dwt and an average age of less than 5 years.
