China CRS Board on SANCHI, Found Two Bodies and VDR

On Jan 13, four rescuers from China Shanghai Salvage Bureau got on board of SANCHI, found two bodies and the VDR (Voyage Data Recorder) and took them back to the rescue vessel “SHEN QIAN HAO”.

According to the current condition of this accident, rescue headquarters schemed the salvage plan and took action without hesitation. Four rescuers searched and found two bodies on SANCHI life-boat deck, then they went into the bridge and found nobody, so they took out SANCHI’s VDR and planned to go into crew's accommodation. However, the temperature has reached 89 degree centigrade and they couldn’t get into the area.

At that time, the wind direction continued changing and toxic heavy smoke generated by the burning SANCHI diffuses into the stern from time to time. Rescuers had to dispose and take two bodies and the VDR back to the safety rescue vessel “SHEN QIAN HAO”.
