COSCO SHIPPING Attended the 13th China-LAC Business Summit xinde marine news 2019-12-13 16:01


On December 9, local time, the 13th China-LAC Business Summit kicked off in Panama City. President of Panama Laurentino Cortizo and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Liu Qibao attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Mr. Fu Gangfeng, Director of the Board and President of COSCO SHIPPING, was invited to the summit and address the session “Connectivity – Opportunities and Challenges in Jointly Building the Belt and Road by China and LAC”.
 
Mr. Fu said economic globalization is a historical trend and mutually beneficial cooperation is the best way to promote the prosperity of the world economy and trade. COSCO SHIPPING will continuously deepen cooperation with companies in Latin America and the Caribbean and play a more important role in promoting the steady development of China-LAC economic and trade relations and accelerating industry cooperation.
 
During the summit, the China-LAC Trade and Investment Exhibition was held as a supporting activity. COSCO SHIPPING Lines (Panama) attended the exhibition on behalf of the corporation.
 
On the afternoon of December 9, local time, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Liu Qibao and President of Panama Laurentino Cortizo visited the exhibition and listened to an introduction by Mr. Fu Gangfeng to COSCO SHIPPING’s business development in Panama at the booth of the corporation.
 
During his stay in Panama, Mr. Fu Gangfeng also visited Chinese Ambassador to Panama Wei Qiang, inspected the Panama Canal lock, talked with the captain of M.V. Xin Ying Kou owned by COSCO SHIPPING Lines which was passing through the lock, and extended solicitude to the crew. Executives from the Executive Division, COSCO SHIIPPING (North America) and COSCO SHIPPING (Panama) attended the above activities.
 
Prior to his visit to Panama, Mr. Fu also made a field trip to COSCO SHIPPING (North America), met with Consul General of China in New York Ambassador Huang Ping, visited Maher Terminals and held talks with its CEO Gary Cross. Before their talks, Mr. Fu boarded COSCO SHIPPING SAKURA berthing there for cargo handling and extended solicitude to its crew. Mr. Wang Haimin, Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING and executives from the Executive Division and COSCO SHIIPPING (North America) attended these activities.
