Volume decline slows at Port of Hong Kong xinde marine news 2019-10-17 14:28


Container volumes at the Port of Hong Kong continued to decline for the 20th consecutive month, but at 1.3% it was the shallowest fall since the rot set in in February 2018. The total volumes in September 2019 were 1.468m teu.
 
Drilling down in the figures the throughput at the Kwai Tsing terminals was 1.148m teu, a fall of 3.8%. Meanwhile midstream operators recorded a throughput of 320,000 teu, up 8.7% year-on-year.
 
The cumulative throughput from January to September 2019 stands at 13.684m teu, reflecting a decline of 6.5%.
