Taicang port sees double-digit growth in container handling xinde marine news 2019-03-22 16:07

The container throughput of Taicang port in Jiangsu province saw double-digit growth in the first two months of 2019, local media reported on March 19.

More than 860,000 containers were delivered in the same period at the port, a year-on-year increase of 22.3 percent.

The foreign trade container throughput at the Taicang port saw a rapid increase. In the first two months, the port delivered 388,000 containers, up by 22.7 percent year-on-year.

The achievements can be attributed to the newly-obtained qualification of imported solid waste port and the business with Yangshan port in Shanghai shifted from road to water transport.

The overall cargo throughput of the port maintained a stable increase in January-February, recording roughly 38 million tons with an increase of 5.7 percent year-on-year. Coals, mineral building materials and timber were the main lot cargos.
