In the week ending Sep-18, Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) issued by Ningbo Shipping Exchange (NBSE) quotes 1193.1 points, slightly falling by 2.5% against last week. Meanwhile, eleven of the selected twenty-one routes maintain an upward trend while other ten have fallen. In addition, according to the freight indices of the primary ports along the Maritime Silk Road, twelve ports appear a constant rising tendency while other five are declining.
Europe and Mediterranean routes: In the Europe and Mediterranean routes, mspt carriers choose to maintain the previous freight rates, except for some carriers that have continuously seen space tight.This week, freight index in the route from Ningbo-Europe quotes 868.8 points, down by 2.6% from one week ago. Freight indices in the routes from Ningbo to East Mediterranean and West Mediterranean quote 813.1 points and 933.6 points, reducing by 1.0% and rising by 1.0% against last week respectively.
North America route: In the North American route, the actual freight rate increase of box liners in mid-September is far from the previously announced rate increase. Some carriers have not implemented the freight increase plan.
This week, freight indices in the routes from Ningbo to East America and West America quote 1638.5 points and 2303.3 points, slipping by 7.5% and dipping by 10.0% from one week ago respectively.
Mideast route: In the Middle East route, the market space continues to be tight, and the freight rate maintains an upward trend.This week, freight index in the route from Ningbo-Mideast quotes 1189.1 points, having a week-on-week increase of 5.1% compared with last week.
Red Sea route: In the Red Sea route, near the Chinese National Holiday, the transportation demand is peform hot, and the shortage of market capacity supply has caused carriers to continue to increase the spot freight rate.This week, freight index in the route from Ningbo to Red Sea route quotes 1455.8 points, up by 30.0% against last week.
