Evergreen Marine joins SRTI

Evergreen Marine announced that it has officially joined Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative/SRTI.

Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative is an online platform launched by Sustainable Shipping Initiative.

Shipping companies that join the organization must disclose ship recycling policies and disassembly operations in accordance with their established standards and thereby share relevant practices with other members.

Evergreen Marine stresses the need for planning and strict environmental and safety standards to avoid environmental pollution when shipbreaking.

Evergreen Marine requires all new ships and existing vessels to provide an Inventory of Hazardous Materials/IHM Part I.

In addition, the 12,000 TEU F ship that Evergreen started operating in March this year is ahead of the environmental protection regulations in many regions, adding a Selective Catalytic Reduction reaction system (SCR) to the main engine exhaust system. It meets the most stringent third-stage emission standards of MARPOL, which can reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by about 75% compared with the second-stage standards.
