China has its first lighthouse weather observation station

On June 11, China had its first lighthouse weather observation station, which was installed at the Jiujiejiao lighthouse on the main channel of Xiamen Port in Fujian Province.

Xiamen port is the 14th largest container port in the world, but it is located in the waters near Jiujiejiao, which is greatly affected by heavy fog in specific seasons, so the demand for weather observation is more urgent.

After the observation station is put into operation, it will carry out precise observation on the surrounding areas. The observation elements mainly include visibility, wind direction, speed, temperature and humidity, air pressure, etc.

The observation station will use solar power and 4G data communication to provide basis for maritime and port departments to make accurate decisions through data sharing, so as to realize early detection, early warning and early linkage.

In addition, TA will effectively improve the navigation efficiency of fog days by about 10%.
Xiamen Meteorological Bureau will continue to build a number of "Silk Road Shipping" automatic meteorological observation stations around Xiamen Port, do a good job in ensuring the safety of maritime shipping weather, and help to build the "Silk Road" core area.
