Evergreen Ship was Attacked by Pirates

An Evergreen containership named Ever Dynamic was attacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia on November 17. Two rocket propelled grenades were fired by pirates against the ship.

Ship’s Name: Ever Dynamic
Time: November 17, 2017 World Time 09:17, Local time 12:17, Beijing Time 17:17.
Location: 01-55.9N, 047-56.8E, about 280 nautical miles off Somalia's coastline.

Due to the installation of the anti-piracy barbed wire, the pirate found no embarkation point. At this time, the speed of the containership was increased to 15 knots. The pirate fired an RPG rocket at the left aft to the bridge. Fortunately it did not board the ship.

Pirates then moved to port side and accelerated to the vicinity of the bridge. The captain then sent a command to the left full rudder, which slowly pushed the pirate boat away and the speed of the ship hit 18 knots. They found no embarkation site, then began to give up.

After two minutes, pirates accelerated again and fired at the bridge at about 200 meters from the stern but failed. The containership’s speed has reached to 20 knots, so pirates give up chasing finally. Fortunately, no one in the Ever Dynamic was injured.

EU NAVFOR naval units later detained six suspects for the attack and intercepted a mother ship and a skiff. A legal process is currently under way to transfer suspected pirates to the authorities for prosecution.
