In celebration of the 21st "China Maritime Day," Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (Xiangyu Marine Equipment) has officially announced the acquisition of its first 210,000 DWT Newcastlemax bulk carrier order. This marks a significant milestone for the company, as it ventures into the larger tonnage bulker market and reinforces its strategic focus on green shipping and technological innovation.
The order comes from Japanese shipowner Doun Kisen, who has placed a significant trust in Xiangyu's capabilities. The three new Newcastlemax bulk carriers, each priced between $75M and $76M, will feature exceptional efficiency, advanced design, and energy-saving solutions. These vessels are expected to be delivered by 2028.
This is Xiangyu’s first venture into building 210,000 DWT bulk carriers, showcasing the company’s growth and competitiveness in the global market. With a history of producing smaller bulk carriers and chemical tankers, this new venture demonstrates Xiangyu’s commitment to meeting high international standards while advancing eco-friendly shipbuilding practices.
The ships will be equipped with cutting-edge energy-saving technologies, including high-efficiency propellers, energy-saving appendages, and the latest hull optimization designs to reduce fuel consumption and improve operational efficiency. They will also be fitted with exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) and ballast water treatment systems (BWMS) to meet strict environmental regulations.
Xiangyu Marine Equipment is paving the way for a greener, more efficient future in shipbuilding!
