The World's First Container Vessel Methanol Dual Fuel Retrofit Project Block Prefabrication Starts in China Xinya Shipyard 2024-03-11 17:19

On the morning of March 8, 2024, Zhoushan Xinya Shipyard held the Steel Cutting Ceremony for 14000TEU MAERSK HALIFAX Methanol Dual Fuel Retrofit Project, marking the world's first container vessel methanol dual fuel retrofit project entered into a substantial stage. Representatives from Maersk project team, ABS, and headquarters leaders and employees of the company attended the ceremony. 


CEO Xia Songkang announced the start of the ceremony. With the sound of paper fireworks, CNC laser cutting machine cut the first piece of steel marking the official start of the retrofit project.



On October 18, 2023, under the focus of the global shipping industry, Xinya and Maersk solemnly signed the contract of the World's First Container Vessel Methanol Dual Fuel Retrofit Project. The implementation of the retrofit project will not only help Maersk reach the target of net zero emission by 2040, but also test Xinya’s ability in green retrofitting, laying the foundation for Xinya to build a "Centennial Green Xinya".


CV MAERSK HALIFAX is scheduled to arrive in early July this year, and will undergo conversion and repair for a period of about 3 months.In order to ensure the smooth implementation of this project, Xinya has built a 500-ton gantry crane overhead the No.3 dock specifically and is in use now. 
 
Combined with a series of advanced special cutting machines and welding equipment, the preparation work is done in an orderly manner. Xinya has the confidence to accomplish this project with high-quality and make this project the model, providing Xinya mode for the world ship repair, which is  joint efforts and wisdom, and will carry their dreams to the net zero future.
