China's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding won orders for nine vessels worth US$578 million in May. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2020 and 2021.

The nine vessels comprise five 12,000 TEU containerships, two 208,000 dwt bulk carriers and two 82,000 dwt bulk carriers, reported Singapore's Splash 247.

Executive chairman Ren Yuanlin commented: "With the steady recovery of oil prices and BDI [Baltic Exchange Dry Index] stabilizing, sentiment on the shipbuilding market and the enquiry level remain healthy. We made good progress in both new order wins and vessel delivery in May."
