Jiangnan Shipyard delivers the third 23000 TEU dual-fuel container ship to CMA CGM xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2021-03-19 16:53

On March 18, the third ship "CMA CMG MONTMARTRE" built by CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard and China Shipbuilding Trading for the French CMA CMG was officially christened and delivered.

"CMA CMG MONTMARTRE" is the sixth of the nine vessels signed between CMA CGM and CSSC, and the third to be delivered by Jiangnan Shipyard.

With a total length of 399.9 meters and a width of 61.3 meters, the service speed is 22 knots, the load capacity is nearly 220,000 DWT, the container capacity is 23,000 TEU, and it can carry 2,200 40-foot reefer containers. It is the largest dual-fuel container ship in the world at present.
This type of ship is the world's first ultra-large container ship that uses membrane fuel tanks and dual fuel propulsion. LNG is the main fuel. It not only uses WinGD dual-fuel main engine, but also is equipped with GTT MARK III membrane fuel, with a capacity of 18,600 CBM, which can support ships to and from Asia and Europe routes.

At the same time, the ship meets the world's most stringent emission standard (IMO 2020 Global Sulfur Cap). Compared with traditional fuel container, it can reduce 20% carbon, 85% nitrogen oxides and 99% sulfur emissions, greatly reducing environmental pollution.

The project is the second cooperation between CMA CGM and Jiangnan Shipyard. According to the plan, "CMA CMG MONTMARTRE" will sail from China to Northern Europe on March 20 to join CMA's LNC-powered container fleet and be put into operation on CMA's flagship shipping line, the Asia-Europe Line FAL1.
