China MOT Continue Searching for SANCHI Crew



The Ministry of Transport of China dispatched rescue vessels to search and rescue (SAR) for SANCHI crew in the East China Sea after the accident occurred till now.
 
On the morning of Jan 8, China rescue vessel “DONG HAI JIU 117”  found one seafarers body in immersion suit,believed to be one body from SANCHI and yet to be identified
.


 
The SANCHI is in danger of explosion and sink and the poisonous gas generated by the volatilization and deflagration is very harmful. The rescue work is difficult. However, efforts to control the fire and searching the missing crew are ongoing with vessels from China and South Korea.
 
The Panama flag 164,000-dwt tanker “SANCHI” (built 2008) collided with Hongkong flag 76,000-dwt bulker “CF CRYSTAL” (built 2011) on Beijing time 20:00 Jan 6, 2018 from 160 miles east off China Yangtze Estuary according to MOT.
 
SANCHI got fire and tilted to right after collision and its crew of 30 Iranian and two Bangladeshi seafarers are missing. Till now, only one body was found.


 

China’s on-site command ship "Sea Patrol 01" organized 13 search and rescue vessels to further expand its search range and carried out an uninterrupted search within the area of 900 nautical miles of SANCHI.
