SITC International adds 4 more vessels to its growing fleet!

As demand for modern feeder containerships continues to surge, SITC International has announced the order of four 2,700 TEU container vessels from Huanghai Shipbuilding, with a total contract value of up to $152.7 million. Each vessel is priced at approximately $38.18 million, with deliveries scheduled between December 2027 and July 2028.

This marks SITC’s third newbuilding order in 2025, expanding its current orderbook to 14 vessels, totaling 28,800 TEU. Prior orders include ten 1,800 TEU Bangkokmax-type ships, also under construction at Huanghai.

SITC currently operates 122 vessels with a total capacity of 188,000 TEU, and ranks 14th globally among liner operators (Alphaliner).

Of these, over 85% are owned vessels, reinforcing SITC’s asset-light but control-strong strategy.

The 2,700 TEU class represents a growing sweet spot in regional trade—offering operational flexibility, fuel efficiency, and optimal size for intra-Asia networks.

SITC’s move reflects a broader market trend: just in July 2025, over 60 feeder ships were ordered globally. Greek owners, regional carriers, and multi-segment operators are all turning to Chinese yards to renew aging fleets and prepare for the next cycle.

As fleet renewal accelerates and regional trade remains robust, SITC’s strategic expansion ensures it stays ahead of both operational demand and regulatory pressure.
