GSI's first domestic methanol dual-fuel tanker project is about to end

On November 22, CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International held a christening ceremony for the 49,900 dwt methanol dual-fuel chemical/product tanker No. 5 and No. 6 built for Stena Proman, marking the end of the first methanol dual-fuel tanker project undertaken in China.

After the two ships were named, the No. 5 ship "STENA PROVIDENT" was signed for delivery on November 23, and the No. 6 ship "STENA PROGRESSIVE" will be delivered in early 2024.

This project is the first methanol dual-fuel tanker project undertaken by China, with a total of 6 ships, of which the first ship was delivered in June 2022.

GSI has cooperated with STENA for more than 10 years, and has built and delivered 13 50,000 dwt tankers for STENA prior to this project.

GSI has long been committed to the research, development and construction of green ships. The number of dual-fuel ships it has built covers tankers, ro-ro ships, container ships and PCTCs has reached 66. After the project is completed, 10 methanol dual-fuel tankers will continue to be built.
