COSCO SHIPPING Energy is undergoing a remarkable transformation, evolving from a traditional oil tanker giant into a diversified energy logistics leader. In its 2025 Mid-Year Financial Report, the company outlines its journey toward building a second growth curve, marked by strategic investments in LNG, LPG, and chemical transport, paving the way for future sustainable growth.

From Oil Tanker Dominance to Energy Logistics Leadership

The company has been actively diversifying its operations, expanding its presence in clean energy logistics while maintaining its core oil transportation business. COSCO SHIPPING Energy is focusing on LNG, LPG, and chemical transport to reduce dependency on traditional oil transport and establish itself as a comprehensive energy logistics operator.

Strong Performance in LNG, LPG, and Chemicals

LNG Transport: In the first half of 2025, LNG transport revenue grew by 49.6%, reaching ¥1.244 billion. The company has already invested in 87 LNG vessels, with 52 operating and 35 under construction, solidifying its leadership in clean energy shipping.

LPG Transport: With a 26.4% increase in revenue, the LPG segment continues to expand, tapping into global markets, including Europe and Japan, strengthening COSCO SHIPPING Energy’s position in multimodal energy transport.

Chemical Transport: Despite challenges in global chemical logistics, COSCO SHIPPING Energy managed to optimize operations, increasing its profit margin by 4.9%, and is poised for growth as the chemical industry recovers globally.

Innovation in Energy Infrastructure: West Zhong Island Project

COSCO SHIPPING Energy has also invested in the West Zhong Island New Energy Logistics Park, focusing on hydrogen and LPG logistics. This development in partnership with local governments and energy firms is a significant step towards creating a green energy infrastructure.

Focusing on Sustainability and Future Growth

As global energy demands shift towards sustainable sources, LNG and LPG transport will continue to play a crucial role in COSCO SHIPPING Energy's portfolio. By expanding its green energy fleet and strengthening its position in chemical logistics, the company is well-equipped for long-term success in the energy transport sector.

COSCO SHIPPING Energy is not only adapting to market changes but leading the transformation in global energy logistics, building a diversified, sustainable, and profitable future.
