COSCO SHIPPING CHILE: A New Vessel Dedicated to Chilean Cherry Exports xinde marine news Chen Yang 2024-10-14 16:33

On September 20, 2024, COSCO SHIPPING ’s latest vessel, COSCO SHIPPING CHILE, was officially named in Yangzhou. This 335.9-meter vessel, with a capacity of 14,100 TEUs and 2,100 refrigerated containers, is specifically designed to enhance the transport of Chilean cherries to China, meeting the growing demand for fresh produce logistics.

Claudia Soler Bottinelli, Executive Director of the Chilean Cherry Committee, was honored as the ship's Godmother, reflecting the importance of the partnership between Chilean fruit exporters and COSCO SHIPPING. With 91% of Chilean cherries exported to China, the new vessel plays a crucial role in the “Cherry Express” service, ensuring timely delivery of cherries during China's peak demand season—around the Lunar New Year.

The Cherry Express route addresses the unique challenges of cherry logistics—short harvest periods and the need for fast, reliable cold chain solutions. COSCO’s digital tracking systems further guarantee transparency and freshness, making it a critical link in the Chile-China supply chain.

As trade between Latin America and China grows, the COSCO SHIPPING CHILE is more than just a vessel; it is a vital bridge connecting Chilean agricultural products with global markets.
