Jiangnan Shipyard Expands to the Middle East: 2 New VLACs ordered by Abu Dhabi Xinde Marine News Pang Kai 2024-10-11 10:54


On October 10, Jiangnan Shipyard, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), celebrated a significant milestone with the opening of its Middle East office in Abu Dhabi.

Following the opening ceremony, another 2 new 93,000-cubic-meter Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLAC) were signed between Jiangnan Shipyard and ADNOC Logistics & Services and AW Shipping, a joint venture between ADNOC and Wanhua Chemical Group.

Xiao Wenlin, General Manager of Jiangnan Shipyard, emphasized the strategic significance of the Middle East office as a starting point to deepen collaboration with oil & gas companies and shipping firms. He committed to further R&D investments to meet the region's energy transport needs.

This contract reinforces their commitment to low-carbon energy transportation.

ADNOC L&S CEO Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi welcomed the new office, stating that it will strengthen the partnership between ADNOC L&S, AW Shipping, and Jiangnan Shipyard, especially in advancing low-carbon shipping solutions.

Wanhua Chemical Group President Kou Guangwu highlighted the successful delivery of 18 gas carriers since 2020, marking a major milestone in their ongoing collaboration with Jiangnan Shipyard.

Chinese Embassy in UAE expressed support, noting the strategic role of the Belt and Road Initiative in fostering cooperation between China and Middle Eastern countries.
