Wah Kwong's ultramax bulker refloated in Argentina xinde marine news 2018-05-07 13:41



According to the latest information the 63,300-dwt Pilatus Venture (built 2016) was refloated Saturday after grounding on the Parana River near Buenos Aires Province’s town of Ramallo, Argentina.
 
The ultramax bulker, owned by Hong Kong-based Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings is said to have run aground at 15:30 hours local time on 3 May with about 41.700mt of soyabean meal loaded and bound for Australia and New Zealand, shipping agency Alpemar said.
 
In a follow up bulletin the agency said that a couple of tugs had been sent to the incident location and by 08:35 hours local time on Saturday 5 May Pilatus Venture was successfully refloated and was navigating downstream headed to drop anchors at Ramallo/San Pedro roads in order to perform the corresponding coastguard inspections.
