Relying on the newly-formed container shipping companies and taking advantage of cooperation with famous shipping companies, Taicang port has further perfected the shipping route network. It has been carrying on the “collaboration between the port and the bonded area” policy with a view to support port units and build “faster, more efficient, lower cost, better service” port service environment. It is also actively cooperating with other ports such as port of Keelung, Taichung, Osaka and Singapore in areas like route development and personnel training, thus promoting the development of port construction to a new and higher level.
There are currently 52 berths in Taicang port, with the total berth length of 10,800M, including 28 berths of over 10,000 tons and 10 container berths. The designed handling capacity is 97.8 million tons, 4.35 million TEUs, It has built and put into operation the Taicang port bonded logistics center, the international passenger terminal, the only national-level quarantine and pesticide handling area of imported timber in Yangtze River Delta. And it will soon put into operation the information center, port centralized inspection center, dangerous goods yard, anchorage expansion, integrated regulatory and relief base and a number of other functions carriers. These new facilities will promote the port function of Taicang Port to a new level.
Up to now, it has opened 99 container liner routes, of which 11 are foreign trade routes linked with 13 ports in Japan, South Korea and other countries and regions; 29 domestic trade routes linked with all big coastal ports; 41 Yangtze branch lines, linked with 17 ports along the Yangtze River and 3 canal ports; 18 Yangshan branch lines, achieving Public Transport Operation. Container liners berth nearly 1,400 ships per month, the world’s top 20 shipping companies have started their business in Taicang Port, and more than 150 logistics companies (freight forwarding) and shipping agency companies have provided service for Taicang port.
