1.According to Xinhua, experts in Greece praised the development the Port of Piraeus is experiencing, under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during a two-day seminar. The event was a joint initiative by the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation in Greece and the Tsinghua University in China.

 

2.Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. has decided to establish a new subsidiary in Indonesia.Named PT Yang Ming Shipping Indonesia, the new arm will be formed with Yang Ming’s partners in Jakarta on May 16, 2019.

 

3.China’s Guanghui Energy is to construct the LNG receiving station at Xueyan port on the Yangtze river  following the project approval from Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

 

4.Recently, Alfa Laval inaugurated the Alfa Laval PureSOx Training Center in Shanghai, China. Focused on the training of commissioning engineers, the new facility will be instrumental in ramping up the skilled workforce prior to the global sulphur cap. But with its full-sized PureSOx scrubber, it will also provide crew training opportunities for customers.

 

5.Hong Kong-based port operator COSCO Shipping Ports has completed the equity transaction of project company responsible for its greenfield subsidiary at the Port of Chancay, Peru.

 

6.Liuheng Management Committee, Zhejiang Energy and Shenzhen Energy Gas Investment Holdings have inked co-operation framework agreement to jointly invest in and develop the LNG receiving terminal project in Liuheng, Zhoushan.

 

7.Chinese dry bulk shipping operator Ningbo Marine has sold its 1986-built handysize bulker Mingzhou 6 for demolition.The 27,400 dwt vessel has been sold for a price of RMB15.1m ($2.2m).

 

8.Chinese steel futures rebounded from five-week lows in late trade on Wednesday as concerns over the economic impact of a U.S.-Sino trade war subsided, helping lift prices of steelmaking raw materials, including iron ore.
