COSCO Attended the IAPH 2019 World Ports Conference

On May 8, the IAPH 2019 World Ports Conference with the theme of “Collaborate Now, Create Future”had its grand opening at Baiyun International Convention Center in Guangzhou. Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING Mr. Yu Zenggang attended the conference on invitation and delivered a keynote speech, in which he analyzed the current developments and looked into the future trends of carriers and ports partnership. The speech was highly regarded by the conference participants. COSCO SHIPPING subsidiaries, including COSCO SHIPPING Bulk, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers and COSCO SHIPPING Ports,  participated in the conference exhibition.

 

On the morning, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province Mr. Qin Weizhong, Mayor of Guangzhou Mr. Wen Guohui, Safety Director of Ministry of Transport Mr. Li Tianbi, IAPH President Mr. Santiago Garcia-Mila, relevant leaders of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, and representatives of the ports and shipping industry visited the conference exhibition. At the booth of COSCO SHIPPING, Mr. Yu Zenggang briefed the visitors on the efforts made by COSCO SHIPPING in building the shipping, terminal and logistics industry chains, as well as in carriers and ports cooperation. Mr. Qin Weizhong congratulated the company on the achievements attained in its reform and development, and expected to see a bigger role played by carriers and ports partnership in facilitating global trade in the future.

 

Initiated by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and known as the “Olympic” of the international ports and shipping industry, the World Ports Conference is a biennial event that has been successfully held for 31 sessions. This year’s conference is organized by Guangzhou Port Authority, and sees participation of more than a thousand guests, experts and scholars from over 50 countries. COSCO SHIPPING Bulk and COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, as vice-director member organizations of the conference leading group office, were engaged in the event preparations.
