1.The Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board recently visited Norway as part of a more extensive tour of the Nordic countries. The aim of the trip was to promote Hong Kong as an international maritime centre and to learn more about “green” maritime initiatives being undertaken in Norway. 
 
2.A Cosco ship design subsidiary has completed designs for a record-breaking 25,000 teu ship.Shanghai Ship and Shipping Research Institute (SSSRI),a unit of Cosco Shipping, has got the design approved by CSSC No.708 Institute, part of the nation’s largest shipbuilding group.
 
3.Danish shipping line Maersk has officially signed shipbuilding contracts for the construction of up to ten 2,200 teu containerships at CSSC’s Jiangnan Shipyard.The contract includes a firm order for five ships and options for another five ships.
 
4.China is working to develop a 33,069-ton nuclear icebreaker, which would be even bigger than the epic nuclear-powered vessels built by Russia.South China Morning Post reported that while the purpose of the ship has not been specified, the plan is to have a 152-metre long, 32-metre wide and with a displacement of 30,000 tonnes.
 
5.Italy's government is headed squarely for a deal with China on direct investment in as many as four major seaports, explicitly endorsing Beijing's "belt and road" economic development program.
 
6.China's state-owned bunker fuel supplier Chimbusco plans to start offering low sulfur fuel oil at the Qinhuangdao and Jingtang ports from April, after Beijing imposed a 0.5% sulfur limit from January 1 for vessels sailing within 12 nautical miles from its coastline, a company source said this week.
 
7.An increasing number of Chinese ports are holding up Australian coal shipments, with long delays now being reported at Fuzhou port in the southeastern Fujian province, Rizhao in Qingdao and Yingkou in Dalian, according to traders and end-users in China.
 
8.Chinese dry bulk shipping company Sinotrans & CSC Phoenix sold its 28% stake in Chongqing Xingang Changlong Logistics Company to bolster cashflow.
