Dagang gas storage pumps out 1.8 bcm of natural gas

Dagang gas storage, located in Tianjin and composed of nine gas storages, extracted 1.8 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas during this winter heating season (from November 2018 to March 2019), contributing a lot to secure stable gas supplies and improve air quality, China Petroleum Daily reported on March 12.

Dagang gas storage, built by Dagang Oilfield (Group) Co., Ltd which was a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, is a major gas source in the seasonal peak consumption period for Beijing-Hebei-Tianjin region.

It boasts the best gas exploitation capacity at 37.56 million cubic meters per day in the country to meet regional emergency energy need, sources said.

It is learned that those nine gas storages started operation on November 15 last year when the winter heating season set in and worked for 118 days. Their daily gas output reached 15.25 million cubic meters, exceeding the original target by 28 million cubic meters.

As the nation's four-mouth-long winter heating season ended, all gas storages at Dagang oilfield began maintaining production facilities to fully prepare for gas injection.

By far, Dagang gas storage has injected 26.5 bcm of gas in total since its operation in 2000, with 23.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas exploited. That equaled to an annual effective gas yield at nearly 2.3 billion cubic meters, sources said.
