China Shipping bulletins on Jan 29,2019


1.Shipyards under the control of China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC) have won orders for up to 36 newbuildings worth more than CNY 10bn ($1.48bn) in a huge haul facilitated by the shipbuilding giant's leasing arm.
 
2.On the morning of 25th Jan., a delegation led by Mr. Oleg Butković, Minister of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure of Croatia visited COSCO SHIPPING headquarters. Mr. Yu Zenggang, Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING met with the delegation and had an in-depth exchange of views on shipping business. 
 
3.China National Offshore Oil Corp, a leading domestic oil and gas producer, will expand its presence in the offshore wind sector this year to develop its clean energy portfolio, following its involvement in a related project in East China's Jiangsu province in January.
 
4.China maintained its top position in the global shipbuilding industry last year, an association said.In 2018, Chinese companies built 43.2 percent of the new ships in the world, up from 41.9 percent a year ago, cementing the country's leading role in the sector, the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry said in a report.
 
5.The technology group Wärtsilä has recently been awarded a number of contracts to supply its Aquarius UV Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) to global shipping operators. The contracts cover in total 13 systems,and is being carried out for ships being built at yards in China. 
 
6.Hong Kong’s Insurance Authority has granted a licence to underwrite business in the territory to the Britannia P& I Club. Gaining the licence us the latest in a string of positive growth developments for the British Club.
 
7.Chinese iron ore futures soared to a 16-month peak on Monday after Brazil’s mining agency ordered Vale SA,the world’s biggest iron ore producer, to halt operations at its Corrego do Feijao mine following a deadly tailings dam collapse.
 
8.China imported 1.44 million mt of LPG in December, up 13.5% from November, but down 9.3% year on year, the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs showed Friday.
