China Shipping bulletins on Jan 15,2019


1.China will attempt to solve the trade tension with the US during 2019, the country’s commerce minister informed. This decision came after talking with US negotiators last week.
 
2.China's foreign trade volume reached 30.51 trillion yuan in 2018,up 9.7% year-on-year, reaching a record high in import and export volume, said Li Kuiwen, spokesperson of the General Administration of Customs(GAC),at a news conference of the State Council Information Office on Jan 14.
 
3.The Port of Singapore maintained a stable performance in 2018. Container throughput grew by 8.7% to 36.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units(TEUs), and total cargo throughput remained stable at 630 million tonnes.Singapore also retained its position as the world’s leading bunkering port.
 
4.China's manned submersible "Shenhai Yongshi" (Deep-Sea Warrior) finished its first diving this year on Tuesday in southwest Indian Ocean with a harvest of deep-sea samples. 
 
5.Spot rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday dropped 1.7% to US$979 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
 
6.On January 7, China’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding(SWS),a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corp.(CSSC) has officially announced that it has set up a specialized team for the design of large cruise ships.
 
7.On the morning of January 10,a delegation led by Mr. Mo Jianhui,Vice President of China Classification Society(CCS),visited COSCO SHIPPING and held talks with Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Capt.Xu Lirong on issues of common interests.
 
8.China's iron ore futures closed higher on Monday.The most active contract for May 2019 delivery finished the day session up 0.98% to 513 yuan per ton.
