The Hong Kong office of logistics provider, Dachser has established a new Far East South cluster to capitalize on cross-market business opportunities and powerful IT resources.
Kevin Chen, who is heading up the new regional operation was appointed by Dachser as managing director of Air & Sea Logistics Far East South. The industry veteran will be responsible for 477 employees and eight locations across Hong Kong, Taiwan and South China.
Formerly the managing director of Air & Sea Logistics South China, Mr Chen is said to be a transportation logistics expert in the region. He joined Dachser in 2003, when the company acquired Züst Ambrosetti Far East Ltd, and was promoted to the position of general manager of South China that same year. Under his supervision, South China’s business has grown substantially to more than 200 staff members and six offices today.
The team also welcomed Jesper Larsen as managing director of Air & Sea Logistics Hong Kong, effective August 13. Reporting directly to Kevin Chen, Larsen brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the logistics industry. Most recently, he served as general manager of a well-known NVOCC in Hong Kong.
In addition, Dachser appointed Nick Chen as managing director of Air & Sea Logistics Taiwan. With expertise in engineering and trade logistics, Mr Chen most recently served as vice president of Operations at a reputable international logistics company in Taiwan before joining Dachser in March 2018.
By consolidating Hong Kong, Taiwan and South China markets into the Far East South cluster, Dachser will provide new opportunities for cross-market synergies to expand the company’s footprint in a sustainable manner. In addition, the new geographic region will provide increased visibility and security to customers by harnessing Dachser’s powerful suite of IT programmes, including the Othello international transport management system for air and sea, and the Mikado system for cross-continental warehouse management.
