1.Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Carl Decaluwe, governor of West Flanders, Belgium and his delegation on May 11.After the meeting, Shanghai’s Lingang Group and Zeebrugge Port Bureau signed a strategic cooperation agreement to advance Shanghai and West Flanders’s cooperation.
 
2.Hong Kong, 14 May 2018 – Pacific Basin Shipping Limited (“Pacific Basin” or the “Company”, 2343.HK), one of the world’s leading dry bulk shipping companies, today announced its conditional agreement to acquire four dry bulk vessels for a total consideration of US$88.5 million to be 50% funded by equity.
 
3.Dalian iron ore hit multi-week highs on strong demand.Prices of steelmaking raw materials iron ore and coking coal climbed in China to their strongest level since March on May 15, spurred by firm steel consumption in the world's top user.
 
4.The Guangzhou Port will be a crucial part of the world-class shipping hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the city strives to build the Guangzhou Free Trade Port by 2020, according to an action plan recently released by the municipal government.In the future, Guangzhou will also enhance multimodal shipping, building sea-air transport channels and railway-water transport hubs.
 
5.The fully automated container terminal at the Port of Qingdao has lifted 790,000 TEU in its first year of operation, the Qingdao Port Group has announced.So far the port has opened 16 routes with a monthly throughput of 100,000 TEU. The port is considering opening more berths.
 
6.China's daily crude steel output reached 2.56 million tonnes in April, it is the highest in at least 4 years, as mills boosted production to take advantage of high margins after the end of winter output curbs.According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS),overall steel output in the world's top producer climbed to 76.7 million tonnes in April, up 3.7% from March and up 5.4% from April a year ago.
 
7.In the ranking of the world's most promising container ports in 2017, China ports still continue the previous advantage,in which seven Chinese ports ranked.
 
8.Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province is accelerating marine ranch construction. Several marine ranch projects have been initiated in the city this year and nearly 20 are being built.
