The inaugural ceremony of the “Europe-South America East Coast” liner service was held in the morning of the day at the ICTSI’s Rio Brasil Terminal. The "New Nantong" vessel setting off from the port would transport the goods from countries such as Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina to the ports of destination in Europea and deliver the cargoes to customers.

Each liner on this route can handle cargoes of over 3,000 TEUs, and mainly runs between South American countries (including Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina) and the European countries (including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal). It further promotes economic and trade cooperation between the two regions and ensures the supply chain stability. The launch of this route expands the daily handling capacity of the Port of Rio de Janeiro, which not only generates more income to the state of Rio de Janeiro, but also facilitates the export of commodities from the neighboring Minas Gerais State.

What the client says?

The coffee beans produced in Brazil are widely welcomed by consumers around the world. 65% of the coffee exported by the company every year will be shipped to Europe. The "South America East Coast-Europe" shipping route newly launched by COSCO SHIPPING has made the company's trades with Europe more convenient and reduced the transportation costs.

In the afternoon of that day, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings also rolled out its first inland channel services in Brazil. The Brazilian inland channel products released this time cover the supply chain nodes such as railway stations, trailers, empty container depots and inland bonded warehouses in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. It is aimed to better leverage the traditional advantages of maritime enterprises in the logistics field; integrate and interconnect various resource nodes such as warehouses, trailers, railways and customs clearance; and improve the efficiency of the Brazilian supply chain.
